Chester Air (CAIR)

Chester Air (CAIR) is a new group developed by Chester County in response to eliminating high ozone pollution levels. Although the fight against ground level ozone will be a central focus of this group, CAIR will be dedicated to working toward improving and sustaining all aspects of air quality.

Your membership requires a promise to aim towards meeting all of the following commitments within the next year:

  • To plant a tree.
  • To walk/bike whenever I can.
  • To stay educated on how to improve air quality.
  • To bring my own reusable shopping bag when grocery shopping.
  • To buy recycled paper packaging.
  • To buy in bulk.
  • To avoid throwaway products.
  • To avoid excess packaging.
  • To recycle.
  • To keep my tires properly inflated.
  • To keep my vehicle well-maintained.
  • To avoid idling more than 2 minutes.
  • To use cruise control, if I have it.
  • Not to "top of" the gas tank.
  • To use over-drive, if I have it.
  • Not to burn my household garbage.
  • To use energy efficient lighting in my home.
  • To decrease my overall energy use.
  • To carpool to work/school at least 3 days a week.
  • To Eat Lunch In or bike/walk to lunch at least 3 days/week.
  • To use landscaping equipment during off-peak hours during ozone season.
  • To practice "trip chaining" or running errands all at once avoiding cold starts of my vehicle.
