News & Events September 9, 2002 MORCON ANNOUNCES IN GREAT FALLS CHESTER, S.C. - MORCON, a family operated paper converter, today announced plans to create 100 new jobs in Great Falls, S.C. The facility will be located in Great Falls' speculative building in the town's industrial park on SC Highway 200. The company is hiring 75 people initially with the remainder hired over a five-year period. Headquartered in Cambridge, New York, MORCON supplies the entire East Coast in the retail, foodservice, institutional, janitorial, sanitation and health care markets. Its customers are comprised of re-distributors as well as distributors. MORCON focuses on superior quality, extended service, selective distribution and competitive pricing. The company expects to begin operations as early as mid-October 2002. "On behalf of MORCON, we look forward to expanding our paper converting operation in the Town of Great Falls," said Wayne R. Morris, CEO and president of MORCON. "The Great Falls facility will service our foodservice, janitorial and sanitation markets in the southeast. This facility has amazing growth potential for MORCON and the community of Great Falls." "South Carolina's economic well-being depends on good, quality companies, like MORCON selecting our state to create jobs and invest capital. It doesn't hurt that MORCON also uses recyclable materials that will preserve our state's natural resources," said Governor Jim Hodges. "We are delighted that MORCON will be our newest member of Team South Carolina." "By creating 100 jobs in Great Falls is a good indication of the quality of our workforce and positive business climate," said Secretary of Commerce Charles S. Way, Jr. "MORCON's impact on the Great Falls' area will be tremendous and they will learn that the state's business climate and its highly productive workforce will have positive bottom-line results." Great Falls Mayor H.C. Starnes added, "We look forward to MORCON locating in Great Falls. I am very appreciative of the outstanding support and assistance by the Chester County Council, County Supervisor John Weir, County Councilman Archie Lucas, Jim Rogers and Duke Power, and First Citizens Bank. The jobs being created by MORCON will be a definite positive move toward the revitalization of Great Falls." MORCON was established in 1987 with headquarters located in Cambridge, New York. The company currently employs 75 people and has annual sales of more than $12 million.
