"TO PROTECT THE LIVES AND PROPERTY OF THE CITIZENS AND VISITORS OF CHESTER COUNTY"
Chester County 911 began September 11, 1996.
The E911 communications center provides a complete emergency communication system for Chester County with continuous dispatching of police, fire, EMS, and rescue squads. The E911 center is an enhanced 911 service which means an emergency telephone system that provides the user of the public telephone service with 911 service, and in addition, directs 911 calls to appropriate public safety answering points by selective routing based on the location from which the call originated and provides the capability for automatic number identification and automatic location identification features.
The 911 communications center personnel work a twelve-hour shift and are staffed on a 24-hour basis. All 911 personnel are certified by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division in accordance with the rules and regulations of the FBI/NCIC and are certified by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. All 911 personnel attend seminars and workshops sponsored by various agencies and also attend in house training programs.
